There are many tutorials on how to import and organize photos in Lightroom Classic. I suggest Adobe how to page and these two videos from 2021.

Anthony Morganti has a series of videos about Lightroom (cloud version). These are from 2018 but there have not been major changes to importing and managing photos. I suggest the first three videos from his Learn Lightroom CC playlist.
