Set your camera image format to RAW+JPEG.
Shoot the following photos and upload JPEG files without editing to the Flickr group.
- Aperture priority. Image with a maximum or large aperture to demonstrate isolating the subject from the background.
- Shutter priority. Image with a slow shutter speed to demontrate movement or with a fast shutter speed to freeze action.
- Manual settings. Shoot a photo where at least two of the settings (aperture and ISO; shutter speed and ISO; aperture and shutter speed) have been set manually. Write in the comments, why you decided to choose these specific settings.
Notes on the assignment:
- Flickr has 5 levels of privacy settings from Public to Private. If you prefer not to make your photos public you may keep them private. It is possible to add private photos to the group.
- You may use photos that you have taken earlier for this assignment.
- Please upload straight out of camera JPEG files, not edited files. At first, I want to be sure that all uploaded files have EXIF information included. Secondly, our goal with this assignment is to get settings correct in camera, not with editing.
- Make sure that the “Hide your EXIF data” is set to “No” on Privacy and Permissions page.
- Students who have access only to mobile phone can also do the assignments. You probably need to download an app which enables you to modify camera settings (shutter speed, ISO). Mobile phone cameras typically have a fixed aperture which cannot be changed. App suggestion for iOS and Android. Adobe Lightroom can be used as a camera app for free.
